Grey Cast Iron (GG)
High-quality grey cast iron in all grades
What is Grey Cast Iron?
Grey cast iron is an iron-carbon-silicon alloy where carbon is found in the form of lamellar graphite. This microscopic structure gives it unique properties that make it ideal for a wide variety of industrial applications.
Main Advantages:
- ✓ Excellent machinability: Easy to machine, reducing finishing costs
- ✓ High damping capacity: Absorbs vibrations and noise
- ✓ Good wear resistance: Ideal for friction parts
- ✓ High thermal conductivity: Rapidly dissipates heat
- ✓ Dimensional stability: Minimal deformations in service
- ✓ Economic cost: Excellent quality-price ratio
Available Grades
| Grade | Strength | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| GG-15 | 150 MPa | Engine blocks, housings |
| GG-20 | 200 MPa | Cylinders, flywheels |
| GG-25 | 250 MPa | Machine beds, frames |
| GG-30 | 300 MPa | High-strength components |
Industrial Applications
- Automotive: Engine blocks, brake discs, manifolds
- Machinery: Machine beds, frames, pulleys
- Construction: Sewer covers, street furniture
- Energy: Diesel engine components, pumps
Ductile Cast Iron (GJS)
Ductile casting with high strength and exceptional ductility
What is Ductile Cast Iron?
Ductile cast iron, also known as nodular or spheroidal cast iron, is a type of cast iron in which graphite crystallizes in the form of spherical nodules. This special treatment with magnesium during pouring gives it superior mechanical properties.
Main Advantages:
- ✓ High mechanical strength: Superior to grey cast iron
- ✓ Exceptional ductility: Absorbs impacts without fracture
- ✓ Excellent toughness: Withstands dynamic loads
- ✓ Fatigue resistance: Ideal for load cycles
- ✓ Good machinability: Comparable to low carbon steels
- ✓ Optimal weight/strength ratio: Alternative to forged steel
Available Grades
| Grade | Strength | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| GJS-400-15 | 400 MPa | High ductility |
| GJS-500-7 | 500 MPa | Gears, crankshafts |
| GJS-600-3 | 600 MPa | High mechanical strength |
| GJS-700-2 | 700 MPa | Critical components |
Main Sectors
- Automotive: Crankshafts, suspension (John Deere, Kubota, Volvo)
- Wind Energy: Rotor hubs, gearboxes (Gamesa, Norvento)
- Railway: Bogies, wheels (Talgo, CAF)
- Naval: Propellers, valves (Navantia)
Ni-Resist Casting
Corrosion and high-temperature resistant alloy
What is Ni-Resist Casting?
Ni-Resist casting is a family of cast iron alloys with high nickel content (13-36%) and copper, specially designed for applications requiring corrosion resistance, oxidation and high temperatures.
Special Properties:
- ✓ Exceptional corrosion resistance: Acids, alkalis, seawater
- ✓ High-temperature stability: Up to 800°C
- ✓ Non-magnetic: Austenitic types
